This image is from Novodevichye Cemetery in Moscow Russia. It is the premiere cemetery for the interment of the Communist elite. As a consequence even though the monuments are world class and cost a fortune to construct, they of course cannot express anything spiritual nor can it reference an after life. So what is left is simply to memorialize the persons life and particularly their work and career. This individual was a tank commander in the Soviet Army.
